Here is just one song by a band I don't recognize. It's on the end of a Heartbreakers tape from NYC in 1975 so I think this recording is from the same time period and probable recorded at CBGB. Can anyone identify the band?
setlist: [from cassette tape]
01. Kingdom Come
That's Television, doing an unreleased song called "Kingdom Come." You can check it against a different take over on YouTube:

Thanks for identifying the band and song. I'd never heard this song before.
ReplyDeleteYour welcome. I don't recall if I heard it before, and I have to say the first minute or so sounded like some god-awful, unprofessional racket...but then it settled down and that guitar tone started to sound like Tom Verlaine. When the vocals cut in, I took a chance and googled "kingdom come" and "television" and sure enough, I found it.
ReplyDeleteI love Television. The only album I know of is Marquee Moon and the title track to that album is purely fantastic. The band went unnoticed, it seems , but it's obvious when listening to that album they were way ahead of their time. I highly recommend checking them out. They were along the lines of King Crimson, Frank Zappa, even Pink Floyd.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave for all that information. The guy I got the tape from was taping shows in 1975-1976 and I think this Television show is one he taped. There's no info about what show it is from. I might be able to get the full show from him if he still has it. Of the shows he taped most of them don't seem to have gotten out there.
