That's Television, doing an unreleased song called "Kingdom Come." You can check it against a different take over on YouTube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qI4U_XNWEY
Thanks for identifying the band and song. I'd never heard this song before.
Your welcome. I don't recall if I heard it before, and I have to say the first minute or so sounded like some god-awful, unprofessional racket...but then it settled down and that guitar tone started to sound like Tom Verlaine. When the vocals cut in, I took a chance and googled "kingdom come" and "television" and sure enough, I found it.
I love Television. The only album I know of is Marquee Moon and the title track to that album is purely fantastic. The band went unnoticed, it seems , but it's obvious when listening to that album they were way ahead of their time. I highly recommend checking them out. They were along the lines of King Crimson, Frank Zappa, even Pink Floyd.
A bit late in the day but some info. Kingdom Come is a rather rare track which does not appear on the early Television demos or on the known bootleg compilations of 1975-76 CBGB performances which are here:http://floppybootstomp-ii.blogspot.com/2014/03/television-new-york-stories-1975-76.htmlhttp://floppybootstomp-ii.blogspot.com/2014/01/television-live-cbgbs-1976.htmlhttp://www.guitars101.com/forums/f145/television-w-patti-smith-1975-04-17-new-york-city-ny-aud-flac-164576.htmlbut it is included in other later gigs:http://floppybootstomp-ii.blogspot.com/2012/03/television-live-hartsdale-ny-1977.htmlhttp://floppybootstomp-ii.blogspot.com/2014/05/television-live-bottom-line-ny-1978.htmlAlternative links and other posts here:http://darkcircleroom4.blogspot.com/search/label/TelevisionCheers, Dave Sez.
Thanks Dave for all that information. The guy I got the tape from was taping shows in 1975-1976 and I think this Television show is one he taped. There's no info about what show it is from. I might be able to get the full show from him if he still has it. Of the shows he taped most of them don't seem to have gotten out there.
