E.A.B. - Demo '87 (1987)

Here is another Philadelphia Hardcore Punk band. E.A.B. stand for Epileptic Albino Bullfrogs. The band formed in 1985 and put out this demo in 1987. I think this was their only release. Sound quality is excellent.

Homo Picnic - Demos + interview 1984-1985

Homo Picnic were formed in 1984 by three members of the band Kremlin Korps after that band split up. By the end of the year they put out the Blood On The Walls tape. A few months later they put out the second tape. One song from the 1985 demo was included on the Discpan Hands-A Philadelphia Compilation LP that was released in 1986 and two songs from the 1985 demo were released on a comp. 7inch ep in Germany titled Breaking The Silence that came out in 1987. In early 1985 a new bass player was added and by mid-1985 the singer left. The band carried on and released an LP in 1986. Sound quality on the demos is excellent. The interview was conducted at the end of 1984 or beginning of 1985 and was intended for publication in Maximum Rock 'n' Roll but I don't know if it ever was. The recording is a bit distorted but is an interesting listen.

Sudden Impact - Demo (1984)

Sudden Impact were a short lived Hardcore Punk band from Philadelphia. They existed for less than a year,  only played a handful of shows (cool shows, though, opening for DRI and Negative Approach) and put out this tape. Bass player Beebe joined Homo Picnic in 1985 and recorded an album with them that was released in 1986. Sudden Impact used to have a Myspace page with photos and a live soundboard recording but that seems to have disappeared. Sound quality is excellent.

Tracks 1,5,9 and 11 were recorded on a 4-track recorder. The rest of the tracks were recorded on a boombox. This was the bands only release. Riled By A Nazi is my favorite song. Shame they never released it on a 7inch. Sound quality is very good.

In 1981 they recorded a 4-song demo and on December 19 of that year played at the second Philadelphia Punk Fest with Sadistic Exploits, Decontrol and others. The band never released a record and split up in 1982. Sound quality is excellent.

Later in the year they recorded their second demo and passed that one around on cd-r. They also had two songs on the Rumors From The Air-Conditioned Tiger Pit compilation CD in 1996. In April 1997 the band briefly expanded into a five piece line up with the bass player moving to vocals and a new rhythm section added. The band slimmed back to a 4-piece and split up at the end of the Summer of 1997.

Bass Masters - Gilbertsville Fire Hall, Gilbertsville PA 12-30-96

Bass Masters were from Boyertown Pennsylvania and were one of hundreds of bands that formed across the country in the resurgence of Punk Rock in the mid-1990s after Nirvana and Green Day hit the big time. The band started out as a three piece line-up in 1995 and recorded two demo tapes before a line-up change added a second guitarist. In 1997, the year they split up, they had two songs on the Rumors From The Air-Conditioned Tiger Pit CD compilation along with other bands from their area. This live recording is from the second line-up and is copied from a video tape. Sound quality is good

Follow Fashion Monkeys - Demos 1986 + 1987

Follow Fashion Monkeys were a Hardcore Punk band from Bethlehem Pennsylvania. They started up in 1984, released their fisrt LP in 1986, toured the USA with the Italian Hardcore band Indigesti, had one song on a Mystic Records compilation album, recorded their second album (which went unreleased) at Inner Ear recording studio in Washington DC (recorded and mixed by Don Zientara and Ian Mackaye), and split up in 1988. Two members went on to join the more Rock oriented Dick Destiny & The Highway Kings. The bassist/vocalist Steve Moyer died a few weeks ago so this is a little tribute to him. Both demos were recorded on a 4-track recorder at their rehearsal space. Sound quality is excellent.

Classic Ruins - Demos 1983 + Boston 1985 + Boston 1988

The Demos were recorded at Radiobeat Studios but I'm not sure if these versions are the same as on the Room Starts Spinning LP that was released in 2002. The 1985 radio broadcasts is the band just playing cover songs but ad-libing different lyrics over the music. They sound pretty drunk. On the version of Temptation Eyes they sing the lyrics to the Hank Williams song Hey, Good Lookin'. The 1988 show finds them back in fine form and they add a couple Buddy Holly songs to the set. Sound quality is excellent all around.
